Kila Church (or Church of Kila?)

Kila Church were built 1654. The previous church from the middle ages, that were made in wood, were to decayed to repair.
The new church were placed next to Harefjorden.

The leader of the building were vicar Sven Anundsson Faxelius, who is also burried in the presbytery.
The churchtower were built between 1769-1774. Bengt von Echstedt from Smedbyn and vicar Elof Sedelius (grandpa to Esaias Tegnèr) took the initiative to build it. In the tower hangs a churcbell that is dated 1348.
This bell, a so called runebell (runklocka?), has the runic inskription
Petrus Curatus which refer to the vicar at that time.

The altar and the pulpet were originally built in 1829, but the alter had complementary additions made in 1882.

The oldest effect in this church is the baptismal font in soapstone from the 13th century.

What an incredible church! I love reading this because in a country as young as ours you just don't see this kind of history and I find it fascinating! Great post for the day, Shannara! Hope you have a great week!
