My World Tuesday - Von Echstedtska

This week I'm going to show you some pictures from Von Echstedska, an old house ner the lake Summeln in Kila, Värmland.

Von Echstedtska farm is in appearance a typical Caroline mansion, characterized by a strict symmetry.



Main building, pavilion and privy are richly decorated interior, characteristic of the 1700s paintings. The paintings have undergone several restorations and some have been reconstructed.


Von Echstedska yard Smedbyn, mentioned as a tax total farm land in the books of the 1540th The farm has had many owners and the land has shifted but the farm has been in existence for at least 460 years and with today's farm formation in 240 years.

The district had early settlements and ancient remains suggests that humans settled here as early as the Stone Age. Von Echstedtska yard that has the original name Smedeby mentioned in the year 1540 Census Book

There are also a couple of ghosts living at the farm, one of them is
a maid that lived on the farm around 1760, one of her tasks were looking all houses every evening. The story tells us that her fiancé, that also worked on the farm, one evening decided to play a trick on her. Dressed in a white sheet he waited for her one evening.

When the maid saw the "ghost" she throw a very big key after it. He was hit in the side of the head and fell dead to the floor. After that the maid lost her sences and were looked up in the cellar where she died.

After that her ghost is still there looking for her fiancé.
